Here's a trivia question: What is the longest-running entertainment
program in the history of the ABC Television Network? The answer:
America's Funniest Home Videos. The original pilot of this YouTube
pioneer was hosted by Bob Saget and Kellie Martin. When the series
began its regular run 7 weeks later, on January 14, 1990, Saget became
the sole host. The basic premise has remained unchanged throughout
its long existence: America presents the most hilarious and funniest
moments ever caught on tape--most of which is unintentional. The top
3 funniest home videos of the night win $10,000 for first place, $3,000
for second place, and $2,000 for third place. At the end of each sweeps
period, the top $10,000 winners vie for an additional $100,000 in cash.

In May 1997, after 8 years, Bob Saget left the series. The following
January he was replaced by former MTV VJ Daisy Fuentes and fellow
stand-up comic John Fugelsang. Unfortunately, the ratings began to
decline, and at the end of the 1998-1999 season (the show's 10th season),
the series was canceled, only to be revived succesfully 2 years later,
in July 2001, with game show host Tom Bergeron taking over hosting duties.
